Why not share your base? Coordinates are optional, just as seeds are optional.

Bases are not seed specific.

Freighters are the largest starships in the universe, while capitals are the biggest and most expensive.

As an alien, this is a truly living and breathing organizm, so do be prepared to take good care of it.

Q. What are coordinates?

A. Coords are the most in-game way of sharing a location within No Man’s Sky. Upon arrival by portal or starship, a user can then arrive at a specific location and attempt relocating a specific point of interest (POI) or an in-game item.

However, occasionally the universe is reset with major updates and when this happens all POI are lost, everything changes and items are no longer to be found.

Q. What are seed codes?

A. Seeds are the lifeblood DNA behind an infinite universe. Contained within each is all the subtle variations of a specific item. These are visual details only and not any actual in-game stats.

And so now when the universe is reset with major updates and all is lost, or if your game save crashes and deletes inself, you’ll be happy that you’ve got your seed codes backed up, so that they’re always to be found; unless by chance an update changes the seeds, which has happened before and can likewise alter the variations.

Q. Does this work crossplay?

A. Coords work across all platforms while seed codes are only accessable on PC.

Q. How do I use seeds?

A. Download the No Man’s Sky Save Editor from software developer Brendon Matthews who also goes by GoatFungus.

Load your game save, copy-paste the seed you like into the editor’s appropriate field, save the change, and then launch NMS to see the result. Make sure to backup your save before changing anything!

Note: I’m not affiliated with the editor, it’s just been the most popular method over the years.

Q. Why use multiple hashtags?

A. Because this is a very powerful and proven system, and while 1 hashtag is simpler, more hashtags mean better organization and increased chances of discovery.

Q. Why use NMSSeeds.com?

A. To document, share and enjoy all known discoveries, seed codes and coordinates, across a vast and mostly unseen infinite universe!

Organic Ship TypeAdded a new ship type: “Organic” – thanks for the tip Jonathan!

BEYOND Update“Beyond” has been added to the version dropdown so you can select it when adding new seeds and you can search for just the beyond seeds.

Fixed some issues with pagination in search – Thanks Ken F.!

Added a batch uploader, you can upload large numbers of seed images here. These seeds will be added to the review page where the community can help assign colours and add them to the main database.

Added support for Frigate seeds and added a new field for Home Seeds (Freighter & Frigate). Home Seeds are used to set the colours making it easier to find that perfect model & colour combo.

NEXT Update All past screenies have now been flagged as “Atlas Rises” version as they may appear different since the NEXT update. Differences vary from small to significant. Newly uploaded images can be tagged to the appropriate NMS version.

A script to generate seeds discussed here is now supported with an API to upload the generated images for review via the “Review” menu!

What Are Seeds?

Seeds are special codes that can generate a specific ship, freighter or multitool in the game No Man’s Sky. There are thousands of variations, from structural design to subtle colour differences and each one has a unique seed. Seeds are not a cheat in my opinion as they only change the visual aspects. Changing a seed won’t increase your slots or stats.

Please help me pay the bills

We have been getting over 4000 visitors a day(!) since the NEXT update so I would greatly appreciate your help in covering some of the costs.

How To Use?

Download this save game editor from GoatFungus or this save game editor from Raxdiam. (Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with either of these). Load your save game, copy-paste the seed you like into the editor’s appropriate field, save the change, then launch NMS to see the result. Make sure to backup your save game before changing anything!
