One of my favorite ways to spike a good pot of morning brew is by using this homemade DIY marijuana edible recipe. It’s fast, easy, takes only four steps, and keeps fresh in the fridge for way longer than it takes to see it used. The best part is that your friends can help themselves to a personalized infused cannabis drink to suit their tolerance and palette with no tweaking required. This method requires 1 cup of cannamilk which we will include for your convenience at the bottom of the recipe. Hope you enjoy this delicious 5 step marijuana infused coffee creamer that is sure to make you tingle from your head right to your feet while impressing guests with no effort at all.
- 1 cup of cannamilk
- 2 grams of cannabis
- 1 can (240ml) full fat coconut milk
- 4 tablespoons of maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla
- parchment paper
- 1 elastic
- 1 sealable mason jar
- 1 cookie sheet
- 1 weed grinder
- 1 saucepan
- 1 whisk
- Preheat an oven to 250 Fahrenheit and grind up your marijuana while you wait.
- Spread the cannabis grind over a sheet of parchment paper on a cookie sheet and bake it in the oven for 20 minutes.
- Add the cannamilk and coconut milk to a saucepan and place it on a burner set to medium heat.
- When the milk begins to form small bubbles, you can add the decarboxylated cannabis to the mixture.
- Allow the cream and marijuana to steep for 30 minutes before removing it from the heat and straining any residual plant material through a section of cheesecloth fastened to a sealable mason jar.
Now your freshly made cannabis infused cream can be cooled and used immediately.
Cannamilk tastes great when added alone to tea, coffee, or other marijuana edibles recipes, and works perfectly as a base for cannabis infused coffee creamer. While this recipe calls for 3 grams of marijuana per each cup of almond milk, more experienced users may prefer a dosing of nearly double that to start, so be sure to keep your tolerance to cannabinoids in mind for the best results. If you don’t have almond milk on hand or don’t care to keep the recipe dairy free, you can use any low-fat milk instead.
- 9 grams of cannabis
- 3 cups of almond or low-fat milk
- 1 weed grinder
- 1 cookie sheet
- 1 saucepan
- 1 resealable mason jar
- 1 whisk
- 1 elastic
- parchment paper
- Preheat an oven to 250 Fahrenheit.
- Grind all the marijuana using a grinder.
- Place one layer of parchment paper on a cookie sheet and spread the cannabis grind in the middle of it.
- Bake the bud grind for 30 minutes. This is a process called decarboxylation which will activate the THC which is the element that gets you high. This step is necessary for a truly infused edible of any type.
- Add the milk and decarboxylated grind to a saucepan and rest it on a burner that’s set to medium heat.
- Simmer the milk for one full hour, stirring the mixture frequently to avoid burning. Do not allow the liquid to reach a boil or it will scald.
- Remove the saucepan from the burner, and faster a piece of cheesecloth to the spout of a resealable mason jar using an elastic.
- Now pour the cannamilk through the filter to remove any excess plant matter.
- Gently squeeze the marijuana pieces keeping them inside of the cheesecloth to extract any remaining liquid.
- Dispose of the cheesecloth seal the jar and store it in the refrigerator until you are ready to use it.

How to Make Cannabis-Infused Milk

T hough the most common foods people tend to associate with cannabis infusions are baked goods or gummies, just about anything can be infused with cannabis. Baked goods often use infused butter or cooking oils while gummies usually involve the addition of cannabis tinctures. But what about an ice-cold milkshake? Or a whipped topping on some pie? For recipes like these, cannabis-infused milk or cream is a great option.
Why Milk is Great for Cannabis Infusions
Though often overlooked, milks make a great medium for cannabis infusions. Not only are they tasty but they’re also filled with those glorious lipids (fats) that cannabinoids love so much. In fact, cannabinoids won’t stick to anything but fats or alcohol, and since alcohol products aren’t ideal for all consumers, having another source of liquid infusion is pretty important.
How to Infuse Milk or Milk-Like Products with Cannabis
Because cannabinoids require lipids to bind to, the best milk or milk-substitute products (nut milks, oat milks, soy milks, etc.) to use for cannabis infusions will be the fully-fatty kind (no skim or reduced fat) like whole milk, coconut milk or heavy cream.
That being said, most milks do contain some fat content so feel free to use whichever option you like best – regular milks or plant-based options will both work! To make your own cannabis-infused milk products, gather the following:
What you’ll need:
- Milk, Cream, Coconut Milk or Other Milk Substitute
- 1 Gram of Decarboxylated Cannabis Per Liter of Milk
- Sauce Pan
- Air-tight Liquid Storage Container (i.e. Mason Jar)
- Finely grind your cannabis into a powder (the finer the grind, the better it will infuse into your milk)
- Next, add your finely ground cannabis directly to your milk, place over low heat and whisk to combine. Be careful not to let the mixture boil over!
- Stir the milk mixture frequently to prevent scorching and allow the cannabis and milk to simmer for 30 minutes to an hour depending on your preferred potency
- After 30 minutes to an hour, remove from heat and let sit for 5-10 minutes to help the cannabinoids set into the fat cells
- Place cheesecloth over the top of a large mason jar or other air-tight liquid storage container then pour the mixture over the cheesecloth to strain out all plant matter
- When it’s cool enough to handle, squeeze all excess liquid from the cheesecloth into your storage container
- Tightly seal your container, label with its contents and expiration date (the same date that was listed on the milk container) or freeze in ice cube trays for later use
- Always remember to label all cannabis-infused products (including your canna-milk ice cubes) and keep them secured away from children at all times
Clever ways to Use Your Infused Milk
Cannabis-infused milkshakes are awesome, but they aren’t the only way to enjoy your fresh canna-milk. Now that you’ve learned how to make your very own cannabis infused milk at home, here are a few quick recipe ideas for infusions.
Cannabis-Infused Alfredo Sauce
Infuse a pint of heavy whipping cream (and some cannabutter if you feel so inclined) for this easy dinner recipe. To make it, just mix one pint of heavy whipping cream, ½ cup of (infused) butter, and four ounces of cream cheese in a saucepan. Melt over low heat until smooth then add ½ teaspoon of minced garlic, one teaspoon of garlic powder, one teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and ¼ teaspoon of both salt and pepper and stir until combined. Add one cup of grated parmesan cheese, stir and simmer for three to five more minutes. Toss your finished Alfredo sauce over your favorite noodles and enjoy.
Homemade coffee creamer is easy, tasty and less complex than store-bought brands. To make cannabis infused coffee creamer at home, just mix two cups infused milk or heavy cream with one 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk in a large Mason jar and store for up to one week. Feel free to add your favorite flavored syrups, too.
Cannabis Queso Dip
Cannabis-infused queso is always a party hit and only requires a few simple ingredients. To make infused queso dip, just melt some Velveeta or other soft cheese into one to two cups of your infused milk or half-and-half then add your favorite flavors to taste (Ro-Tel brand canned tomatoes work well as do pickled jalapenos).
Whether for the high or the awesome flavor, infusing cannabis into milks is a create way to ingest cannabinoids and terpenes.
