I have a friend who likes to promote hemp on Facebook, and one of the posts had this “factoid”:
Looks highly doubtful to me but I can’t find any real supporting/disputing info.
Is there anything that would support/refute this claim?

The claim is based on the false premise that Cannabis species use C4 photosynthesis.
Several of the grasses use C4 photosynthesis. Despite its nickname, Cannabis species are not members of the grass family. They are members of the Cannabaceae family, all of which use C3 photosynthesis (the same mechanism used by most trees). No member of the Cannabaceae family is listed in a very extensive list of C4 plants [Sage], and the photosynthesis in Cannabis sativa is consistent with C3 photosynthesis rather than C4 photosynthesis [Chandra].

It’s your choice, some people convert their gas cars to run on ethanol or E85 ethanol even though there is less performance and less MPG.

Meat eating is very destructive and poor animals are suffering and dying, butchers are cruel, There has been lots of evidence of animal abuse if you search on the internet or local library if that information is not censored or restricted from public view. Intentionally killing animals for food is still animal abuse since animals prefer to stay alive. Meat eating is addictive, people don’t need it but think they do, that sounds more like an addiction than an actual need for food which could come from plants.

1,704,936,272 x 42 (1800gallons) = 71,607,323,424 barrels hemp fuel
* 366 days are counted instead of 365 days in a year.
So there is math proving that more than enough hemp fuel can be made to supply far more than the demand covering one of the major energy sources, so obviously not all hemp biomass should be converted into just ethanol, diesel, gasoline, pellets, I guess the markets would adapt because what if diesel cars get more popular? There might be undiscovered ways to use ethanol, diesel and other forms of hemp energy more efficiently which would help offset the lower Energy return On Energy Invested compared to fossil fuels.
Even if hemp can only produce 300 gallons of hemp fuel per acre, hemp can still provide the energy needed with more land needed.
and yes arable land could be left alone, diesel is more efficient than gas.
Hemp crops can use less energy to grow and every part of the hemp plant can be used, the seed oil can be used for biodiesel, the stalk can be used for ethanol, no part of the plant needs to be wasted which is why Hemp is a superior crop to grow. Hemp crops work very well in crop rations since hemp helps replenish nutrients in the soil. Anyone who does not think there is enough land to grow hemp for fuel and still grow food crops need to take a serious look at all the waste land that can be converted into arable land. Hemp and mushrooms are a great resource to convert land into arable land good for growing food crops.
