12 Benefits of Hemp Seed Oil Soap for Skin
Hemp seed oil also has an incredible list of benefits for beautiful skin and that’s what I’ll be talking about in this posts
1. Facial Cleanser
Deep cleanse your skin with hemp seed oil! It dissolves stale sebum and drives out grime, dirt and pollution from deep within the pores. To cleanse your face, simply massage a 1 tsp of hemp seed oil on your face for a minute. Next, soak and wring a microfiber washcloth in hot water and dab on your face. Repeat the process three more times, then finally use the washcloth to wipe off excess oil.
2. Moisturizes Skin
Hemp seed oil has a comodogenic rating of 0, meaning it does not clog pores at all, which makes it a great moisturizer for both oily and acne prone skin types. Its fatty acid content helps create a protective barrier over the skin which prevents moisture loss.
One of the most effective benefits of hemp seed oil for skin is it can be used to heal and calm acne prone skin. If you have such a skin type and you find that other carrier oils such as jojoba, coconut, grapeseed, etc cause breakouts on your skin, you must try using hemp seed oil. Its astringent properties balance sebum production of the skin thereby controlling greasy acneic skin. Internal consumption of hemp seed oil helps regulate hormones, thereby helping heal hormonal acne.
4. Alleviates Dermatitis
The rich omega 3 & 6 fatty acids in hemp seed oil help alleviate and soothe dermatitis. A 2005 study published in the ‘Journal of Dermatological Treatment’ discovered that common symptoms of dermatitis including itchy skin and dryness considerably improved after using hemp seed oil for a period of 20 weeks.
Hemp seed oil soothes calms and relieves itchy, painful, dry, inflamed and red eczema patches on the skin. Mix 10 drops of lavender essential oil and 5 drops of peppermint essential oil in ¼ cup of hemp seed oil. Store in an amber glass bottle and apply this blend onto the affected areas twice a day to relieve eczema.
6. Prevents Premature Aging
Rich in antioxidants, hemp seed oil is a powerful anti-aging natural ingredient for smooth wrinkle-free skin. Hemp seed oil helps improves the skin’s elasticity and water retention in the skin’s tissues thereby keeping skin supple & youthful. Its skin firming, tightening and toning properties also help prevent sagging skin.
7. Softens Rough Patches
Just like jojoba oil, hemp seed oil has a similar composition to sebum, which makes it an excellent emollient. It’s rich EFA (essential fatty acid) content seals moisture into the skin, thereby softening and moisturizing rough and dehydrated patches. Use hemp seed oil to moisturize your elbows, knees, heels and other rough areas of your body. If your skin is extra dry and rough, you can mix hemp oil in shea butter to make a nourishing and lubricating natural lotion!
8. Soothes Skin Rashes
The anti-inflammatory properties of hemp seed coupled with its moisturizing and soothing properties help heal itchy, inflamed and red skin rashes.
9. Prevents & Helps Fade Varicose Veins
One of the less-known benefits of hemp seed oil for skin is that it can help prevent and reduce varicose veins. This is because it has blood thinning properties, due to its high omega fatty acid content, that help prevent build up of blood on top of the valve. This build-up is what causes the veins appear like they are bulging. Add hemp seeds/hemp seed oil to your diet or apply it topically on your varicose vein. Caution: If you have hypertension, heart disease or any other chronic/severe health conditions, please first consult your doctor before using hemp seed oil as it has anticoagulant properties.
10. Tightens & Shrinks Large Pores
Since hemp seed oil is a ‘dry’ oil with its light and thin consistency, it helps tighten, tone and firm skin. Its astringent properties help minimize large pores that secrete excess sebum which causes greasy skin, blackheads and pimples. If you have large pores, using hemp seed oil can help shrink and tighten them.
11. Prevents & Improves Psoriasis
Did you know that psoriasis can be linked to deficiency in omega 6 fatty acids? Hemp seed oil is super rich in omega 6 fatty acids and other EHA’s which fight inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis. Include hemp seeds or hemp seed oil to your diet to help prevent & fight psoriasis. Topical application of hemp seed oil can also be used to moisturize, soothe and calm dry inflamed and itchy psoriasis patches.
12. Balances Oily Skin
Hemp seed oil has light, thin consistency and is a ‘dry’ oil which makes it a good moisturizer for oily and greasy skin. It’s astringent properties help control excess sebum production which leads to an oily face. To use, simply rub two drops of hemp seed oil between your palms and apply on your clean face.
Ensure that you are not allergic to hemp seed oil before using it. Use a patch test on your inner wrist/elbow to see if it’s safe for you to apply – if you notice any burning, itching or skin irritation, do not use hemp seed oil on your body.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA AND THYROID CANCER.
Approximately 39.6% of people will receive a cancer diagnosis at some point in their lifetime. The disease disrupts and takes the lives of people who have it and also significantly impacts the people that care about them. Unfortunately, we don’t have a definite cure so, currently, the best we can do is manage cancer symptoms and give it our all with the treatment solutions we have.
An important step in the fight against cancer is learning all you can about the disease. The more we know about cancer, often the easier it is to treat it. That knowledge includes alternative treatments like medical marijuana.
➡️ What Does the Thyroid Do?
Most people understand what commonly known organs like the stomach and lungs do. But what about the thyroid?
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland that moderates hormones that control metabolism and calcium use. Its follicular cells make thyroid hormones that normalize metabolism to maintain the way that the body uses calcium, the thyroid’s C cells create a hormone called calcitonin.
➡️ Butterfly shaped gland thyroid cancer.
When you have an abnormal number of thyroid hormones, you experience health problems related to your metabolism. Hypothyroidism occurs when you have too few thyroid hormones, making you feel tired and slow. If you have a high number of thyroid hormones, you have hyperthyroidism, which quickens your heartbeat and makes you feel on-edge.
➡️ About Thyroid Cancer.
A healthy body regularly creates new cells to replace old ones. Usually, the old cells die off to make room for the new cells. But, when you have cancer, your old cells don’t die off, causing health problems and even death.
We name a cancer after the place in the body it starts in, so thyroid cancer is cancer that begins in the thyroid. Even if the cancer eventually spreads to other parts of the body, we still call it thyroid cancer.
The three main types of thyroid cancer are:
# Differentiated thyroid cancer: Differentiated thyroid cancers include papillary cancer, follicular cancer and Hurthle cell cancer. They begin in the follicular cells in your thyroid and are the most common form of thyroid cancer.
# Medullary thyroid cancer: Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) can be sporadic or familial, and they start in the thyroid’s C cells.Sporadic MTC is not inherited from relatives, while familial MTC is.
# Anaplastic / # undifferentiated thyroid cancer:Anaplastic thyroid cancer often develops from a papillary or follicular cancer. Doctors have the hardest time treating this type of thyroid cancer.
Medical Marijuana and Thyroid Cancer
➡️ Symptoms and Signs of Thyroid Cancer.
When you have thyroid cancer, you exhibit any or all of these symptoms:
•Swelling in the neck
•Pain that you feel on the front side of your neck
•Issues breathing and swallowing
•A lump in the neck
•A persistent cough and/or change in voice
Also, thyroid cancer patients deal with symptoms universal to cancer, such as:
•Severe nausea and vomiting
•Unexplained and sudden weight loss
➡️ Facts About Thyroid Cancer.
Almost every type of thyroid cancer has a nearly 100% five-year survival rate when caught in an early stage and about a 50% five-year survival rate when detected in the final stage.
Anaplastic thyroid cancer is the exception to the former It always appears in the final stage and has about a 7% five-year survival rate.
Nearly three-quarters of thyroid cancer cases are discovered in women.Women have the highest risk of getting thyroid cancer in their 40s or 50s, while men have the highest risk during their 60s or 70s.
We don’t understand why thyroid cancer affects women more frequently than men.
➡️ Diagnosing Thyroid Cancer.
Since thyroid cancer often manifests as a lump in the neck, it’s often detected early. Most cancer patients have a higher chance of survival when they get an early diagnosis. So, the high chance of early detection helps many thyroid cancer patients receive successful treatment.
Most of the time, doctors find thyroid cancer either when a patient reports neck swelling or during a regular checkup. A simple neck examination usually does the trick. In other cases, thyroid cancer can be found during an ultrasound or blood test.
➡️ Treatments for thyroid cancer.
[ How We Typically Treat Thyroid Cancer ]..
We have a few options for treating cancer. The treatment a patient gets depends on the stage of the disease, the patient’s other health problems and the patient’s personal preferences. Some of the most common thyroid cancer treatments include:
# Surgery : Surgical removal of the thyroid cancer tumor is one of the most common options. Depending on how far the cancer has progressed, the surgeon may remove all or part of the thyroid. In some cases, a patient will have to take thyroid hormones after
surgery to replace the ones that the thyroid would naturally produce.
# Chemotherapy : Chemotherapy involves dosing the patient with anti-cancer drugs intravenously or with a pill. We don’t often use chemotherapy on thyroid cancer patients since the risks usually outweigh the benefits. However, sometimes we use it for anaplastic thyroid cancer and other advanced forms.
# Targeted # therapy : The medical world has begun to develop drugs that target certain kinds of cancer cells. Unlike chemotherapy, it doesn’t kill off any rapidly growing cell, so targeted therapy drugs are more efficient than chemotherapy drugs when used correctly.
# Radioactive # iodineTherapy : Some doctors use the thyroid’s tendency to absorb iodine to their advantage. To send radiation directly to the thyroid, the physician gives the patient radioactive iodine that kills only iodine-absorbing cells. Unfortunately, the radioactive iodine doesn’t differentiate between healthy cells and cancer cells.
# Hormone therapy: If the thyroid cancer appears outside of iodine-absorbing cells, doctors can also use external beam radiation therapy. Instead of receiving radiation internally as you would with radioactive iodine, a physician administers a radioactive beam outside the body.
Many of these treatments take a substantial toll on your body, so you and your doctor must take care when choosing one.
➡️ Medicating with Medical Cannabis for Thyroid Cancer.
Medical marijuana is unique because it can address multiple health problems at once without severe side effects for most patients. Thanks to its versatile nature, cancer patients can pick a strain to suit the symptoms they experience, including cancer symptoms. In fact, medical cannabis almost seems tailor-made for cancer relief — many of the symptoms it commonly relieves appear in cancer patients, including:
• Pain: Cancer and its treatments often cause chronic and severe pain. Fortunately, most states with a medical marijuana program have pain at the top of their list of conditions that qualify for the drug. This is because we have done tons of research on pain and marijuana.
• Nausea/Appetite Loss: Many cancer patients have a difficult time eating either due to nausea or loss of appetite. It doesn’t help that thyroid cancer patients must deal with difficulty swallowing and inflammation in their throat. Marijuana can boost your appetite and relieve nausea.
• Fatigue: Depending on the strain you pick, you can get a burst of energy from using marijuana. A sativa strain can help you manage the brain fog and fatigue associated with cancer and cancer treatments.
• Insomnia: Alternatively, indica marijuana strains have sedative properties. When the other symptoms of thyroid cancer keep you up at night, you can use your weed to sleep better.
In addition to addressing symptoms caused by thyroid cancer, research suggests that it could tackle the disease itself.
Researchers have been considering marijuana’s potential for killing and reducing the spread of cancer cells. While we don’t know if it can ultimately cure cancer, studies indicate that it could help teach us what a successful cancer treatment looks like. When you add that to its ability to help patients with other cancer symptoms, you get a great supplement to cancer treatment.
However, when we deal with organs related to hormones, we should take care when using cannabinoidslike THC.A study on men suggested that THC can reduce thyroid hormones, which isn’t ideal for patients with thyroid cancer. Since the study only used male subjects, we have much more research to do to understand the whole situation.
➡️ Thyroid Cancer & Medical Marijuana Research
Thyroid cancer is the most common malady affecting the endocrine system, and it’s also the deadliest. Three types of thyroid carcinomas can occur in patients:
Although the first two have a fairly good prognosis for patients, the latter, anaplastic, is highly aggressive. A 2008 research study performed by the Department of Genetics at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Saudi Arabia explored the possibilities of using cannabis in cancer gene therapy.
In their report entitled “Cannabinoid 2 receptor induction by IL-12 and its potential as a therapeutic target for the treatment of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma,” researchers found that using marijuana to induct the endocannabinoid receptor CB2 allowed for cancer gene therapy to have a more profound effect.
They also learned that when combined with cancer-fighting gene therapy, the induction of CB2 receptors contributed to thyroid tumor regression and prevented the growth of anaplastic tumors by:
Allowing the immune system to function and respond to the tumor
Preventing the formation of new blood vessels that enable tumor nutrition.
➡️ How to Take Medical Marijuana for Thyroid Cancer ?
You have way more options for marijuana use than just smoking. Both the medical and recreational marijuana industries have worked hard to make their products usable for everyone. Certain methods will work better than others for thyroid cancer. Let’s see how they compare:
# Smoking : As a way to inhale cannabis, smoking provides fast relief when you need your medicine right away. But, like tobacco smoke, weed smoke contains dangerous toxins that damage your respiratory system. For optimum health benefits, you may want to pass on smoking marijuana.
# Vaping : On the other hand, vaping has the immediacy of smoking without being as unhealthy. If you pick a vaporizer that doesn’t scorch your marijuana, you can avoid inhaling any smoke byproducts.
# Edibles : Edible marijuana products may do the job for you but only in certain cases. They aren’t ideal for patients having difficulty swallowing due to a thyroid tumor or patients experiencing nausea. Also, the effects of edibles are slow and more unpredictable.
# Topicals : Depending on how much your tumor presses on the outside, topicals can work decently or not at all. Patients usually use lotions and creams for muscles aches and other local pain. But a patch can transfer cannabinoids right to your blood and travel to your thyroid.
# Pills and # tinctures : Some medical marijuana products closely resemble the medicine you would get at a pharmacy. You can take Cannabinoid capsules like a typical pill, and place tinctures under the tongue to be absorbed into the skin there.
# Oils : # CBD oil is isolated cannabidiol (CBD) in oil form. You can vape CBD oil or add it to a meal.
Picking the right cannabis medicine can prove very difficult, especially if you haven’t used marijuana before. When in doubt, check in with your doctor or dispensary. They can provide guidance based on your personal needs.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA CBD FOR KIDNEY FAILURE (LATEST RESEARCH NOVEMBER 2020)
Can CBD help with kidney disease, and if so, how?
Kidney failure, also called renal failure or end-stage renal disease, is the last stage of chronic kidney disease.
When the kidneys fail, it means they have stopped working well enough for the person to survive without dialysis or a kidney transplant.
However, even these remedies are not without adverse side effects. For instance, researchers found an increased incidence of kidney stones in patients after a kidney transplant.
Calcium based stones, such as calcium oxalate and calcium phosphate, were the most common types of kidney stones found after kidney transplantation.
Meanwhile, studies have examined the use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for chronic kidney disease (CKD).
Findings suggested that short-term NSAID use has adverse side effects on blood pressure elevation.
High blood pressure is the second principal cause of kidney failure in the United States after diabetes.
CBD for Kidney Disease: What the Research Says ?
There are no studies specific to the use of CBD alone and its impact on kidney health. There are, however, limited studies that examined the effects of cannabis on kidneys, and they produced mixed results.
During the American Society of Nephrology’s Kidney Week conference in October 2018, researchers shared their findings from a recent study on medical marijuana use and its side effects on kidneys.
Marijuana and hemp belong to the same plant species, Cannabis sativa, but are widely different. Marijuana contains much more tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) than hemp, while hemp contains more cannabidiol (CBD).
The researchers, who studied kidney disease progression in cannabis users, found that chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients’ kidney function declined faster in those who used cannabis, compared to those who did not. They did not report whether this was marijuana or hemp-derived cannabis which would have lower THC than CBD.
Joshua L. Rein, DO, who led the study, warned that kidney patients using cannabis should be aware of potential symptoms, such as nausea, lack of appetite, and chronic pain, which are all valid issues for medical marijuana usage. Meanwhile, researchers of a study published in the Journal of Pain and Symptom Management believe that even minor improvements in patients with difficult-to-treat CKD symptoms may be clinically meaningful. In their research, they found that cannabinoids, like CBD and THC, may present a reasonable alternative to pain and symptom management.
Another study, which was published in the Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, showed that CBD might help reduce nephrotoxicity by decreasing oxidative stress, inflammation, and cell death.
Nephrotoxicity occurs when the body is exposed to a drug or toxin that causes kidney damage, which makes the body unable to eliminate excess urine and wastes.
Still, due to limited treatment options for chronic kidney disease (CKD), symptom management can be challenging. Thus, therapeutic alternatives are in high demand, which may explain why, in recent years, medical marijuana has emerged as an attractive therapeutic option.
As a result, medical cannabis continues to be used for a variety of indications with minimal guidance on known risks, particularly on the altered physiological state of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD).
How CBD Works: The Endocannabinoid System Explained
According to a study published in the American Journal of Physiology – Renal Physiology in 2017, the endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a crucial role in renal homeostasis.
While data suggest cannabis and cannabinoids could have essential effects on kidney function, there is not sufficient evidence from clinical research studies to determine the dangers faced by users of these products with respect to the development of acute kidney injury (AKI) or CKD.
A 2016 review looked into the emerging role of the endocannabinoid system, particularly the cannabinoids and the cannabinoid receptors, in normal kidney function and other diseases, such as diabetes and obesity, that directly contribute to the development of renal diseases.
The authors of the said review found that the activation of the CB1 receptor regulates renal vascular blood flow. Meanwhile, the renal CB2 receptor reduces the effects of inflammation, oxidative stress, and renal fibrosis.
Types of Dialysis / Kidney Disease and Side Effects
There are two types of dialysis:
•Hemodialysis : when an artificial kidney called a hemodialyzer removes waste and chemicals from the blood.
•Peritoneal : which is performed by surgery with catheters to cleans the blood from inside the body.
How Cannabinoids Might Influence Dialysis / Kidney Disease ?
CKD and dialysis inevitably affect blood pressure, which has proven to be regulated by medical cannabis. A 2012 U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey reported that preclinical studies demonstrated a dose-dependent increase in blood pressure with cannabis. Good or bad, the pressure change from cannabis concludes that its properties can regulate compression. CKD also causes problems sleeping, making insomnia an unwelcome side effect of dialysis. Again, medical cannabis proves to help the symptom by the non-psychoactive cannabidiol CBD and psychoactive THC.
As far back as 2008, long before medical cannabis was highly considered, a study reported by journal Sleep Medicine Reviews showed how “smoked marijuana and oral Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) reduce REM sleep. Moreover, acute administration of cannabis appears to facilitate falling asleep and to increase Stage 4 sleep.”
Pericarditis, a prevalent symptom of CKD and dialysis, causes abnormal inflammation, one of the most popular conditions treated with medical cannabis. One of the most popular reports proving that CBD is good for inflammation was published in a 2009 edition of Future Medicinal Chemistry.
“Cannabinoid receptors include CB1, which is predominantly expressed in the brain, and CB2, which is primarily found on the cells of the immune system,” according to the study. “The fact that both CB1 and CB2 receptors have been found on immune cells suggests that cannabinoids play an important role in the regulation of the immune system.” Since inflammation is the body’s response to harm and injury, it would make sense that medical cannabis treats the condition and side effects of CKD and dialysis.
The limited treatment options among individuals with CKD increase the demand for therapeutic alternatives.
Despite the current lack of approved CBD or cannabis therapy, some patients may still want to start experimenting with medical cannabis for symptom management. However, although CBD has been used in many therapeutic applications, the evidence of its efficacy with chronic kidney disease has not been well-reviewed. Also, there is not enough literature accumulated to advise appropriately on consumption forms and dosage.
Before using CBD to treat CKD symptoms or as supplementary therapy, a consultation with a nephrologist experienced in cannabis use is strictly advised.

The Health Benefits of Hemp Oil
Hemp – A brief history
Hemp has been grown for centuries in countries like China, Chile and nations in Europe. The name hemp refers to tall varieties of the cannabis plant, which produces useable products including seeds, oil and strong, hardwearing fibers.
Historically, hemp has been used for a variety of purposes. The seeds are high in omega oils and proteins, making them a nutritional food source, while the fibers of the plants have long been made into cloth, paper and even fuel.
Hemp oil in particular is produced by pressing hempseed and releasing the oil, which is increasingly used in body and skincare products for its rich nourishment.

Maximum Moisture Cold Process Soap Recipe
- 5 oz hemp oil
- 5.2 oz olive oil
- 5 oz coconut oil
- 6 oz distilled water
- 2.3 oz lye
- 0.7 oz fragrance/essential oil (optional)
- Rubber gloves
- Safety goggles
- Large stainless steel or enamel pot
- Wooden or plastic soap mold
- Weighing scales
- Hand stick blender
- Two 3 qt size plastic pitchers
- Two thermometers

1. Wearing your goggles and gloves, weigh out the lye into one of the two pitchers and the distilled water into the other. Slowly add the lye to the water pitcher and stir until dissolved. Set the mixture on one side for a few hours while it heats up.
2. In the meantime, line your soap mold with freezer paper and weigh out the hemp oil, olive oil and coconut oil into an enamel or stainless steel pot and heat until the oils reach a temperature of between 100 and 110 degrees F.
3. When both the oils and the lye mixture have reached roughly the same temperature, add the lye solution to the oils and stir continuously.
4. Next, add any essential oils or fragrance to the mixture and continue to stir, or switch to a stick blender to speed up the tracing process.
5. When you see the mixture trace – or leave tracks – it’s time to pour the soap batter into your mold, cover with the cardboard lid and blanket, and leave to stand for about 18 hours.
6. Remove the soaps from the mold and let them air on an open drying rack – you can leave them in loaves or cut into bars at this point.
For the best quality soap, let the bars/loaves stand for between four and six weeks before use.
