New Strains

How to find the perfect strain for you

There are literally thousands and thousands of different cannabis strains on the market. While all this variety means plenty of choice for consumers, it can also make it increasingly difficult to find that one perfect strain you’re looking for.

This certainly applies to people who are not very familiar with marijuana terminology that can be very colorful with terms such as calyx to leaf ratio, SCRoG, Fimming and curing of buds.

Rest assured, if you have mastered the basic principles then you will soon be able to find your way between all those sativas and indicas.

Hall of Fame

What better place to start your journey with a visit to our Hall Of Fame. The Hall of Fame is divided into 3 categories:

CLASSICS

The CLASSICS are the strains of world renown that have proven themselves for decades by being at the top year after year. Some examples of strains that belong in this category are White Widow, Amnesia Haze, Super Skunk, Jack Herer, Northern Lights and Cinderella 99.

NEW GENERATION

But these classics are of course not classics if on the other hand not a NEW GENERATION comes up that is eager to surpass them in greatness. Some good examples of strains in this category are: Critical Kush, Zkittlez, Girl Scout Cookies, Jack The Ripper and Gorilla Glue.

AUTOFLOWERING

Finally, there is the AUTOFLOWERING category. After the introduction of Lowryder 2, autoflowering strains have become very popular due to their specific characteristics. A very interesting collection of autoflowering strains has been created by breeders worldwide.

Top 10 Lists

We also have an extensive section with Top 10 Lists. These Top 10 Lists contain the 10 best strains in a certain category or strains with a specific characteristic, such as best indica, best sativa, best autoflowering, highest yielding and best kush strains

As said before, there are thousands of different cannabis strains on the market. This makes it practically impossible to select any 100% correct and up to date list with ‘The Best Strains’.

Firstly, we obviously have not seen, smoked and grown all these strains ourselves. Unfortunately we are not that lucky. In addition, you can of course ask yourself the question; what is good and what is better? In most cases it simply comes down to personal taste and preference.

So you should certainly not interpret these Top 10 Lists as a ‘we know all’, but see them as a good help for your search for a particular strain with a certain characteristic. Recommendations are always welcome!

Breeders

Mother Nature gave us the landraces of cannabis sativa and indica that we know under names like Afghani, Hindu Kush, Thai, Colombian and Malawi. Over the years, all breeders around the world have crossed and experimented so much with these and other landraces that an extremely large selection has been created of different strains with a colorful combination of smell, taste and effects.

At the moment there are more than 100 breeders and seed banks in our database with a description and all their strains. Naturally, the famous companies are there, such as Barney’s Farm, Royal Queen Seeds, Dutch Passion, Dinafem, Green House Seeds, Subcool’s The Dank and Sensi Seeds.

But do not limit yourself to the big brands only, also take a look at the smaller and lesser-known brands. Most of them have their own interesting strains which deserve a lot more attention than they actually get. We mention for example The KushBrothers, Humboldt Seeds and CBD Crew.

Smokable hemp flower is a fast-growing herb. And we don’t mean down on the farm. Ever since hemp and CBD were legalized at the federal level at the end of 2019, smokable high-CBD hemp flower has exploded in popularity. In this post we’ll explain what hemp flower is and list some of the most popular strains.

What is smokable hemp CBD flower?

In case you’ve been hiding under a rock, smokable hemp is essentially the same plant as marijuana but without the buzz-inducing cannabinoid compound known as THC (delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinol). Rather, hemp is high in another cannabinoid compound known as CBD (cannabidiol). (Some strains are high in another cannabinoid known as CBG instead of CBD. You can learn more about CBG flower here.)

CBD and the other compounds found in hemp flower (terpenes) have many of the same physiological and psychological effects as marijuana but, again, without the high.

The kind of hemp that you smoke is actually the offspring of marijuana and not that industrial hemp that’s grown for its nutritious seeds and strong natural fibers.

Smokable hemp flower is grown the same way marijuana is grown — in pots or plots — rather than in big dense fields as is the case with industrial hemp. Only female plants are grown to avoid the production of seeds.

Smokable hemp flower looks like marijuana, it smells like marijuana, and it smokes like marijuana. But it’s not marijuana.

Although you might get nasty looks if you’re smoking a hemp “cigarette” in any public place where the smoking of tobacco is permitted, then you are not breaking the law. (Think of it like so-called “near beer” which looks, smells, and tastes like beer but doesn’t get you drunk.)

Just as is the case with marijuana, hemp flower strains come in a wide variety of both indica and sativa-dominant hybrids. And just like marijuana, some smokable hemp flower strains offer more creative energy and are more suited for daytime use, while others are perfect for end-of-day and bedtime use.

You can roll hemp flower into joints. You can stuff it in a pipe. You can spark it in a bong. You can even use a dry herb vaporizer to “smoke” hemp.

Why smoke hemp flower?

There are numerous reasons that people smoke hemp.

For one, it’s not poisonous like the nicotine found in tobacco. The amount of nicotine found in one pack of cigarettes is enough to kill a person if consumed all at once. Hemp flower is completely non-toxic. There isn’t one single credible report that someone has died because they smoked too much hemp.

Secondly, hemp is not known to cause cancer and hypertension (high blood pressure) like marijuana is.

And thirdly, hemp is not addictive like tobacco is. In fact many addiction treatment programs are now using CBD to help their patients kick deadly habits such as hard drugs and alcohol.

So, the bottom line is, if you’re going to smoke an herb, you’ll be hard pressed to find an alternative that is as satisfying and safe for human consumption as hemp flower.
