5 gallon bucket vs 5 gallon nursery pot?
I am going to grow some container tomatoes this year and had planned on using 5 gallon buckets but a friend gave me some 5 gallon nursery pots. However, the pots only seem to be about half the size of a bucket- is this an optical illusion or is the volume somehow measured differently?

It’s common for 5 gallon nursery pots to be ‘squat’. As such they will be a little wider and an inch or two shorter.
Try filling a 5 gallon bucket with growing mix and then dumping it into the nursery pot. Use whichever holds more mix for the maters.
